A new certified farmers’ market opens in downtown Mar Vista Sunday August 6th, 2006. The year-round Mar Vista Farmers1 Market will operate every
Sunday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Grandview Blvd. between Venice Blvd and Pacific Avenue.
“I am thrilled to have a farmers’ market opening in Mar Vista.” Councilman Bill Rosendahl said. “Through the leadership of dedicated
community members, Mar Vista will now have a market that will bring the neighborhood together for fresh, healthy, locally grown produce. I look forward to shopping at such a great place.”
The Mar Vista Farmers1 Market will offer a wide array of fresh, local produce (organic and more), as well as fresh flowers and some prepared foods. Ted Galvan, who started the successful Santa Monica Saturday market on Pico and 23rd, has been chosen as the market manager.
The Sunday market fills a much-needed void in the community that lost its nearest market at the Santa Monica Airport earlier this year.
The Mar Vista Farmers Market, a non-profit organization was formed by a small group of residents, shop owners, and local professionals who now make up its Board of Directors. 3We are excited and enthusiastic to start the market as a way to unify Mar Vista,2 says Mar Vista Farmers1 Market Board of Directors President Lorraine Wells, 3and of course provide great locally grown produce and products.2
The Mar Vista Farmers1 Market, a non-profit organization, aims to raise money to support the Mar Vista community.
